Snapdragon was appointed to support a planning application for the development of a new sports centre on the Hawkshead Campus of Royal Veterinary College in North Mymms.
In order to support the plans, a comprehensive stakeholder engagement programme was undertaken. This included arranging meetings with local groups and political stakeholders, as well as a social media strategy that sought to utilize the Royal Veterinary College’s existing online profile to help it engage with interested parties.
Given the location of the site within the green belt, there was a particular need to engage with community groups and show that the plans would provide benefit that outweighed the loss of green belt land. The project team successfully conveyed the potential for the sports centre to enhance the college’s facilities and contribute to the local area.
The plans were approved by the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in 2015, and the development is now underway.
